Western Massachusetts Wedding Photography

As a Western Massachusetts Wedding Photographer it is always such a blast to photograph weddings in unique locations such as Camp Kinderland for Traci and Jeff’s wedding! They say it is good luck if it rains on your wedding day, well Traci and Jeff had so much good luck coming down when it was time for the ceremony they should be set for years. The rain came fast and hard and then stopped just as quick.

Traci and Jeff were super nice and all about getting some amazing photos and enjoying their wedding. I am also to say no one fell in the water when we were photographing on the docks.

Western Massachusetts Wedding Photographer Captures Beautiful Fall Wedding!

There are lots of well know locations to photograph weddings in Western Massachusetts and this was not one of them. Oh don’t get me wrong there was nothing wrong with this little location in the Berkshires. In fact it was nothing short of a breathtaking, beautiful, fall wedding day.

If you are wondering how you go about getting married at the Hume Christen Camp in the Berkshires, well you have to know someone. Erika and Daniel both work at the camp so they definitely had the inside track.

Erika created most of the decorations herself and did a wonderful job. Such beautiful decorations over and around the alter and I loved her wooden here comes the bride sign.

I am a huge fan of music so the reception was exceptional to document. They have quite a couple of musical families. The Grooms Brother played guitar and sang, the Groom sang a song and played his guitar also. Probably the most entertaining  performance was when the maid of honor and her husband (who also performed the ceremony) gave the  toast. It was no doubt the most  unique toast I have seen as they rapped the whole toast, and did quite entertaining job of it!

From the photo below it is easy to see why a fall foliage, October wedding is so popular in Western Massachusetts, simply gorgeous!

5 Big Mistakes To Avoid When Choosing
Wedding Photographer

Hi my name is Greg Moss and I’ve been a professional photographer since 2005. I’m
originally from Seattle but moved here a 1.5 years ago and love the area. Lot of rain but not as much as back home.

Anyway, enough about me. I wanted to share with you the 5 Biggest Mistakes To Avoid
When Choosing A Wedding Photographer. I put this together to help you make the right
decision because I know how stressful it can be planning a wedding.

Hope this report helps you and please feel free to contact me with any questions or if I
can help in any way.

Big Mistake #1: Hiring a family member!

The beauty of digital pictures is that so many people can take up the wonderful hobby of
photography. Some of my friends and family take beautiful photos and some of them are
amazing.

Many well-meaning friends and family offer to photograph the wedding for free which
can be very attractive. This is all good until after the wedding when you learn that they
don’t know how to shoot in a dark venue without dark blurry photos. Even worse is if
they don’t have a proper backup system and loses your precious wedding day photos.

The one thing you’ll look at and treasure ten, twenty, thirty years after your wedding
day are the fond memories you’ll feel as you look your pictures from that day.

Big Mistake #2: Hiring Based on the type of camera equipment the
photographer carries.

Here is a big warning for you:

Be careful of the photographer who spends a lot of time talking about the camera
equipment they shoot with. Photographers love talking about their gear, heck it’s one of
my favorite topics, but the job of the photographer is to show you amazing images. It’s
not talking to you about equipment.

Big Mistake #3: Not meeting your photographer before reserving your date
with him.

I do not care how amazing you think photographers imagery is on their website or the
prints you have seen, you need to meet with them in person before you reserve your
wedding date.

This is one of the most important days of your life and there is one person there to catch
all those memories – the photographer!

Make sure your personality clicks with the photographer. You want every part of your
wedding to be special and the photographer plays a huge role in this. Take a little time to
sit down and chat over coffee.

Big Mistake #4: Not Paying attention to the photographers style.

Make sure you can see a consistent style throughout the photographers portfolio. This is
crucial when deciding to who to go with. There are different styles such as dramatic, all
candid, posed and photo-journalistic.

I’d be happy to explain these in more detail for you. I’d be happy to talk over the phone
or just send me an email with your questions. My number is 413.274.7347 and my email is
weddings@gregmossphotography.com

If his style is all over the place you won’t know what style you will end up with on your
wedding day. Of course make sure you love his style whether it is high key, dramatic, all
candid, or posed and photo-journalistic.

Big Mistake #5: SIGN A CONTRACT!

This is to protect you!

The contract reserves your wedding date and protects you and the photographer. If the
photographer does not have a contract run for the hills.

Seriously, I’m not kidding about this. Please make sure you follow this one tip from this
report.

Hope this report has helped you and wishing you the very best wedding.

It was a beautiful wedding day for Erin and Geoff! The wedding location has such a cute feel to it.  Erin looked just beautiful in her wedding dress.

I love wedding photography and being part of a couples special day! Erin and Geoff’s wedding had so many special moments, from the Geoff giving Brayden a skateboard that he promised to teach him how to use, to the best man’s (Eric)  toast and of course Erin’s son Brayden dancing gangnam style near the end of the night. I also loved that Erin and Geoff wanted to walk out on the wobbly dock and get a portrait out on the water. It was definitely a shaky walk out to the edge of the dock and I could tell by  the look on Michelle’s (my assistant) face she was at least a little nervous. In hind sight, even though my light did not drop into the water, it would have been a good idea to check that it was secure before I had Michelle hold it out over the water to get the right lighting on Erin and Geoff.

The Reception was at the Century house not too far from camp where the ceremony was held. I always appreciate it when the couple will sneak out of the reception for about 10 minutes to get a few sunset photos. This also gives them a few minutes away from all the action to decompress.

Well enough of me,  let’s see some photos.
