Danielle and Kyle’s Forest Park engagement photography session.

Danielle and Kyle wanted a snowy engagement photography session and mother nature did not disappoint.

Let’s find out more about this wonderful couple.

Kyle and I actually grew up in the same town and attended the same middle school. We were never really friends, but we knew of each other. During my second year of college we ended up having a mutual friend that was eager to introduce us. Kyle agreed to make us dinner before I went back to school from winter break. The night before I left he came over, but decided to bring us to Burger King instead. We hung out that night and then a couple weeks later he requested me on Facebook. He started messaging me and eventually asked for my number.
We were visiting our favorite place to vacation – Wilmington, NC. We vacation here at least once a year and have always found the river walk to be our favorite part. This year we decided to have four of our closest friends join us for the vacation and we planned to go downtown to watch the sunset and go out for a nice dinner afterwards. We all dressed up and decided to go to the other side of the river walk and watch the sunset over the water and the city. After taking tons of pictures, Kyle asked to take one more. He grabbed my hands and started talking. He says he had a whole thing planned out to say, but he got too emotional and couldn’t get any of it out. Kyle dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of our closest friends. We celebrated afterwards at our favorite restaurant in downtown Wilmington.
What was your immediate thought/reaction when he or she asked for your hand in marriage?
I was beyond excited and could not believe it was actually happened. We had talked about it, but never in detail and I had no idea it was going to happen in that moment.
It was amazing to have our friends there to witness it and celebrate with us afterwards.
Now let’s get to their amazing winter Forest Park engagement photos.

Springfield engagement session with Felicia and Joe!

We had such a beautiful day for Felicia and Joe’s engagement session. I love the fact that they have been together since they were 14. Let’s find out more about their engagement.

  • We met in 8th grade because we had gym class together. Joe, someone who I had yet to really know, said to me “hey, I really like your hair, did you do something different with it? Did you dye it or something?” And so began our friendship. We started dating the following June, after going to our schools semi-formal together.
  • We’ve been together for 8 years. Our wedding is on our 9 year anniversary.
  • November 29, 2015
  • Neither one of us has ever dated anyone else, so I guess we’ve kind of always known, but as Joe has said “I knew I couldn’t marry you when we were 15, so I had to wait it out”
  • It was the day we had decided to set up our Christmas tree (Christmas is my favorite time of year) my sister had come over to “help us” with it. After getting everything all set up and Christmas-like, Joe said “Felicia, I found one more ornament” and he pulled out a heart shaped ornament that said “Will you marry me?” and inside the ornament was the ring. Joe got on his knee and I started crying and saying yes (before he had even said anything) when he stood back up I was blubbering “but you didn’t even ask” I said so he officially popped the question and I cried more. My sister was there so she could get the whole thing on video for us. A completely perfect and unforgettable moment it was!
  • I was so surprised! I definitely didn’t expect it (that day anyways). I should have known something was up, he made me breakfast in bed that morning haha!
  • The fact that we both cried because of happiness, that’s never happened before!
  • My ring is gorgeous! It’s a diamond with a circle of diamonds around it. The band has diamonds set in it and even the underneath of the main diamond has intricate (princessy) deigns with more diamonds!

“We hired Greg as our engagement session and wedding day photographer. He was a pleasure to work with, made us feel comfortable during both sessions and took wonderful natural and posed photos.”

Below are a few clothing tips for the session:

Whatever you pick for your shoot, make sure you are comfortable in it. You want to feel great when you’re wearing it. If you feel uncomfortable, you’ll probably look uncomfortable. Stay true to who you are. Don’t wear 4 inch stiletto heels if you’re a girl who lives and dies by cute flats.

The rest of this is pretty straightforward, and remember – these are only guidelines. If your favorite outfit in the world goes against most of these suggestions, bring it anyway. When we shoot engagement sessions, our goal is to capture a couple’s dynamic – not to show off a couple’s fashion sense. It’s certainly great to think ahead, but don’t let this stress you out. Regardless of what yo u wear, we’re going to have lots of fun and work together to take photos you’ll love.
Things to avoid:
Logos/graphics/text on clothing. This is mostly geared towards the fellas, and there really aren’t many exceptions to this one. Make sure your clothes aren’t too baggy or too tight. If your clothes are too baggy, you’ll look bigger than you really are and kinda messy/sloppy. Usually it’s men who have a tendency to wear clothes that are too baggy. For tighter tops (or sleeveless tops/dresses), always bring a cardigan or cute jacket for layering. Try to avoid sleeveless clothing whenever possible. If your favorite top/dress is sleeveless, bring a cardigan. Keep in mind what your body shape is and dress for it. Guys — please, please, please don’t wear clothes that are too big for you. Your dress shirts should not be baggy!
Being too matchy-matchy. This might go without saying, but you both don’t need to show up in matching green polos and jeans. Also consider the general style you’re both going for. Guys – this means that if she’s wearing a chic cocktail dress and heels, you should reconsider your cargo shorts and flip flops.
White shirts/pants/dresses and black shirts/pants/dresses.

Embrace:
Jeans- For whatever reason, jeans tend to photograph really really well. I personally prefer the look of jeans in photos over khaki chinos, but that is really more of a personal preference. They both look great. Cute dresses. Another great thing for you girls to keep in mind is dresses! If you’re comfortable in dresses and have a few that you love (or want an excuse to go out and shop!), brightly colored dresses are a great option.
Bright, solid colors. Rich colors can really help separate you from the background, especially if we’ve discussed shooting in any especially “green”, outdoorsey locations.
Accessories. Feel free to bring a variety of jewelry, scarves, sunglasses, belts or hats. We don’t have to use them, especially if you’re the kind of person who usually keeps it pretty simple with accessories, but it doesn’t hurt to bring them along just in case!

Engagement sessions are a great way to work with your photographer before your wedding day and get some amazing and fun photos to use for your save the date cards.

Quabbin Engagement photography

Karolina and Dan engagement session at Quabbin in Belchertown Ma.

The proposal happened at Niagara Falls. Danny and I were going through the Cave of the Winds Tour. So captivated by the intense waterfall, I didn’t notice that Danny was extremely nervous. When we reached Hurricane Deck, the closest point to the falls, we were both soaked from the seemingly endless supply of water falling down on top of us. It was wonderful, and we were both full of laughter, watching the falls. When I turned to face Danny, he was on his knees. He spoke of our friendship and love, and then he asked the big question. Speechless and stunned from the situation, it took all of my being to say yes. -Karolina

Our future isn’t just a dream anymore, it was slowly becoming a reality. -Karolina

A group of people cheering me on through the proposal – Danny

We both have been to Quabbin many times and love the place. We were excited to be taking our engagement photos in the snow since we are skiers and enjoy winter activities. – Danny
